Where can you find
a solid hope?
Here are some things people would like to think of as solid hopes:
- There will be peace in the world as people realize how horrible war is and how important it is to work together.
- If I work hard, save, and make the right investments, I will have a nice retirement.
- If I eat right and get exercise, I will be healthy and live for many years.
But, can we count on these things to happen, no matter what?
We’d like to think so, but we know better. Take the last one. I acknowledge the importance of proper nutrition and exercise, but accidents and health problems can hit anyone, even those who are in great physical shape.
What is the hope of Easter?
There is one place, and only one place, where we can find a sure hope, something we can count on no matter what. That is the hope that Easter gives us.
Jesus, the Son of God, who died for us and then rose again, has the best explanation: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die” (John 11:25, 26).
On Easter, God fully delivered on his promises.
